As a rule, Samsung is extremely reluctant and slow to release new modern software for its smartphones, and especially for models that have been on the market for more than a year. This year, this South Korean brand officially introduced and launched the flagship Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 phones, equipped with the latest technology.
These mobile devices have a unique ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which is still not to be found in products of other brands. It is built directly into the display, which allows you to use this with the highest possible level of comfort. However, it does not provide the proper level of protection.
Recently it turned out that if you stick an inexpensive gel film on the Galaxy S10 or Galaxy Note 10 display to protect this from scratches, it will be possible to unlock the smartphone with any finger, including any unauthorized person. This time, the South Korean brand did not pull for a long time, but officially recognized the problem and announced that it could fix it by issuing an update.
- Samsung Exynos 980 introduced – Samsung’s first SoC with integrated 5G modem
- Like the Apple Watch Series 4. Smartwatch Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will get ECG function only at the beginning of 2020
- Published characteristics of the Samsung Galaxy A20s
This was released by Samsung Electronics, and the owners of its top-level branded mobile devices can already install it without any difficulties, and directly “through the air” by visiting the appropriate section in the settings of the mobile device.
The update solves the problem, because of which there was a gap in the security system, allowing anyone to bypass the correct algorithm of the fingerprint module, which works on the basis of ultrasound. After installing the update, as the brand from South Korea assures, the problem will be completely resolved.
Similarly, if this is actually the case, Samsung saved the lives of all owners of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10, because if a mobile device with a malfunctioning fingerprint scanner fell into the hands of an outsider, it could easily be charged to banking accounts all the money, apply for a loan and perform many other actions.
Whether the security problem has really been solved is unknown, because the update came out just a few minutes ago, and therefore they did not have time to fully test it, especially since a protective film should be glued to the display for this.
In any case, in order to guarantee that you don’t lose your money in bank accounts when using the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10, you should not stick any film on the display, but if you already have it glued and you don’t want to tear it off, you can enable phone unlocking using regular code or graphic key.
