And if the previously invincible virus influenced the release time of new products, forcing a number of smartphone builders to postpone the release dates of devices, then they already intend to arrange future premieres of new models without looking back at it. Moreover, manufacturers intend to speed up and release significant new products ahead of schedule.
A number of online sources have suggested that Samsung is preparing to announce the flagship Galaxy S21 series about a month earlier than usual. Now a message has come that OnePlus intends to follow the same path. In particular, the premiere of the OnePlus 9 may take place as early as March 2021.
As a rule, the company previously preferred to show its title flagships in May or June. But in the case of the OnePlus 8, she moved away from that tradition and premiered it in mid-April. And if the last predictions come true, then the OnePlus 9 it will show even earlier.
According to the members of the XDA Developers forum found mentions of OnePlus 9 in the OxygenOS firmware code. As previously reported, the OnePlus 9 is codenamed lemonade and the OnePlus 9 Pro is lemonadep.
The OnePlus 9 is expected to be based on the flagship Snapdragon 875 single-chip system, the smartphone will receive an AMOLED display with a refresh rate of at least 120 Hz, charging at least 65 W, and an improved camera.
The upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 SoC will be manufactured in a 5nm process and utilize the ARM Cortex X1 super-core. It is also reported that these devices will be sold in the US by T-Mobile and Verizon.
Why is the company in a hurry with the announcement? There may be several reasons. One of them is to take part in the leveraging of Huawei’s share, whose influence and presence in the market will weaken.
There is also speculation that the company itself is aware that with the OnePlus 8T, it offered a weak upgrade and that the smartphone is unlikely to expect big sales. We need to hurry up with the release of a new generation of flagships so as not to lose potential buyers.
What the company will do with the release of the OnePlus 9, we will find out next year. And this month we can see two more new items: OnePlus N10 5G and OnePlus N100.
The first model should be the version of OnePlus Nord for the US market with the Snapdragon 690 chip, while the second will take the place of the company’s most affordable device and offer the Snapdragon 460 processor.
