As expected, Meizu today officially unveiled its flagship 16s Pro smartphone. The novelty was presented on stage by Wan Zhiqiang, vice president of Meizu Technology. Its appearance was preceded by a long and rather detailed premiere of the Flyme 8 interface, but more on that in one of the following news.
According to the top manager, the current screens with teardrop-shaped (and simply large) cutouts are ugly, so the company continues to develop the Meizu 16s design theme with a narrow top frame into which the front camera is integrated.
The Meizu 16s Pro smartphone is officially presented: Flyme 8, a screen without a cutout, Snapdragon 855 Plus, a 48-megapixel camera and UFS 3.0 memory for $ 380. The novelty debuted with the Flyme 7 interface, but the beta version of Flyme 8 will be available for it from today.

The thickness of the smartphone is small – 7.65 mm, the mass is also quite acceptable by flagship standards – 166 grams. True, the battery capacity could have been larger than 3600 mAh.
As befits the flagship sample of the second half of 2019, the smartphone is built on a single-chip platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus. The amount of RAM was 6-8 GB, built-in flash memory – 128-256 GB. Moreover, developers use fast memory UFS 3.0.
A fingerprint scanner is built into the display and it works 25% faster than the Meizu 16s fingerprint reader. The main camera is represented by three modules that use exclusively Sony sensors: 48-megapixel IMX586, as well as IMX350 and IMX481 resolution, respectively, 20 and 16 megapixels. This smartphone camera has an optical stabilization system on four axes. The front camera uses a sensor with a resolution of 20 megapixels.
The battery life of the Meizu 16s Pro in video playback is 11 hours. This is slightly more than the Meizu 16s – 10.5 hours. The model also has stereo speakers, an LTE modem, Wi-Fi adapters 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC.
The novelty will go on sale in China on August 31, but pre-orders have already begun to be accepted. There are three configurations in total. The base price of $ 380 offers 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory.
More expensive versions have 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory ($ 420) and 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash memory. In general, the data on the price of Meizu 16s Pro, which appeared on the eve of the announcement this morning, was fully confirmed.
An interesting fact: the smartphone debuted with a Flyme 7 shell based on Android 9.0 Pie, but already from this evening in China a beta version of Flyme 8 will be released for it.
