A new patent was granted by the Apple Bureau of Patents and Trademark Office (USPTO). Apparently, the device will receive a bendable display connected using special hinges. We are talking about two design options: classic, when the main screen is minimized inward, and folding in several layers.
There is no exact information about the coating material of the display. The folding part can be reinforced with chemicals and made of glass, sapphire or some other ceramic material.

The patent states that the protective sheets will be used to “facilitate local bending or bending without creating unacceptable internal stress.”
The patent describes the use of several sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and others, which should determine the correct orientation of the display. Apple is also considering using sensors to turn off, turn off, or put the screen in standby when the device is in a folded state.
According to the document, the smartphone can be placed as follows: at an angle of 90 degrees, using the lower part as a numeric keypad, or in the folded state, placing it on the bedside table where the device can display information useful to the user.
It is not clear whether Apple plans to release such a gadget or is it another patent that will never be implemented.
